Singapore usually is the 10th largest export market for the USA. In first quarter 2007 Singapore imported US$6.1billion which was an 26% increase of FQ 2006

Two way trade up 21% to US$11.5 billion

Trade surplus of USA with Singapore increased 62% to US$2.1 billion from US$1.3 billion in FQ 2006

Note Number 1 : During this same period USA exports to India totaled US$2.9 billion

The Republic of Singapore is committed to Trade. Currently the annual trade total is about US$530 billion and the target is to grow trade in excess of US$1 trillion during the next few years.

Foreign Exchange Reserves

The Republic of Singapore has about US$144 billion foreign exchange reserves and the United States of America has about US$67.049 billion foreign exchange reserves as of July 20,2007. One measure of productivity is to look at this on a per capita basis. Using populations of 4.5 million for Singapore and 303 million for the USA this works out to US$32,000 and US$221.28 respectively. However the ratio is 144.6 per Singaporean to one American. If the value of gold held in American reserves is stated at current market than this ration changes to about Singaporean 40 to American 1.
